About

A small practice with one purpose.

Telos is the old Greek word for an end worth aiming at. The practice is named for it because that is the whole job: helping women 40 to 65 rebuild energy, strength, and confidence they can keep, not chase.

Telos Wellness is a virtual coaching practice: sessions happen over video, wherever you are. The work is the Telos Method, five connected parts covering stress, nutrition habits, movement, sleep, and the accountability that holds them together, delivered through the Telos Reset at whatever level of support fits your life.

Two things the practice is built on: coaching that stays honestly inside its scope, and evidence over enthusiasm. We do not diagnose, treat, or read labs, and we will tell you plainly which parts of this work carry strong evidence and which carry less. That honesty is on every page here, including this one.

Your coach

Bo Yates, NBC-HWC

National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach, functional fitness trainer since 2011, and the founder of Telos Wellness.

NBC-HWC is the national board certification for health and wellness coaches. It sets the training standard Bo works to, and the scope she stays inside. What the credential means, and why it matters →

Coaching at Telos is weekly, practical, and built around what your week actually looks like. More than 15 years of functional fitness training means strength work is coached from real experience, not a certificate on a wall. You will not be handed a meal plan, and nobody here reads labs: coaching complements your medical care, it never replaces it. The work is building the small, durable habits the Method is made of, with a team that stays with you while they take hold.

Evidence-informed, and honest about it.

The method rests on published research, and it is careful about what that research does and does not show.

Sleep and blood sugar

Randomized trials show that restricting sleep measurably lowers insulin sensitivity in healthy adults. This is the best-supported link in the method, and it is why we treat sleep as foundational rather than a nice-to-have. See the research.

Menopause and body composition

Long-term studies with body scans show that fat gain roughly doubles at the start of the menopause transition and shifts toward the middle, while total scale weight does not accelerate. This is why we measure progress by more than the scale. See the research.

Stress and abdominal fat

Higher long-term cortisol is associated with more abdominal fat. The relationship is real but modest, and the direction of cause is still being studied, so we treat stress as one meaningful factor rather than the whole story. See the research.
